24th April 2008

These are Words have another show coming up in Austin, Texas on May 3rd (which is also Free Comic Book Day), grab a comic, and head on down.

21st April 2008

Gnomefoam is back on R&R with his second EP, "Benefits of Decay", more cut & paste electronics, sound effects, mashed together, with beautiful instrumentation laid over the top. This is a much darker effort than his first EP, and precedes, his forthcoming album, "The girl in the purple picture". Recommended.

19th April 2008

RRR024 is the third (and unfortunately) final offering from Neil Scrivin. A large portion of the feedback coming to R&R is related to Neil Scrivin, and although it may be some time before we see a fourth offering, let's think to the positives...... you have this to savour!

RRR023 welcomes Savannah, Georgia's, Roger Haddad, to Rack & Ruin, and with him comes this burst of experimental noise, as the EP takes its grasp, the harshness disappears and the hidden treasures are revealed. Get your headphones ready!

18th April 2008

RRR022 sees puppyhead dusting off his old recordings, and releasing them to the masses. Recorded during hot days in the summer of 2006, a found guitar, an old keyboard, and puppyhead made this.... finally others get chance to hear it.

16th April 2008

RRR021 "Watch out for the Quiet Ones", from Sam Golden Sings! finds its was onto R&R, add an acoustic guitar, a shed load of great lyrics, an odd tambourine, xylophone, and drum machine thrown in on occasion together, and you get another R&R gem.

14th April 2008

RRR020 the third (and currently final) EP from Sister Ruth. Piano, cello, field recordings, and more downbeat sombre sounds.

RRR019 is the second release from Neil Scrivin on the R&R label. Going through his extensive back catalogue is a pleasure on its own, one which you are now fortunate enough to be able to share in.

RRR018 welcomes Picayunes to R&R. These songs were recorded before Ross went on to become a member of the excellent America Del Sur

RRR017, the Gnouli Monsters alt-country tinged sound join us on R&R. Nick Grover's two solo efforts, are backed by some excellent Deer Tick, and Cold War Kids covers, download engines engaged!

9th April 2008

Coming soon - Gnouli Monsters debut EP, "The South", Sam Golden Sings! will have his debut "Watch out for the quiet ones" towards the end of this month, also "3" by Sister Ruth, an EP from DaNile, and two Neil Scrivin albums are in the pipeline. Busy times ahead!

Rack & Ruin welcome the experimental noise artist Timbre to the roster, and with him comes RRR016, "Music II, Fuck II", an exhilirating 3 track debut from the 16 year old. Grab it now!

8th April 2008

On a personal level, I'm very happy to see Gnomefoam's "Frozen Freedom" join us on Rack & Ruin. This is one of my favourite EPs that I've heard this year, and so it gives me great pleasure to be able to share it with more willing ears.

7th April 2008

RRR014, Neil Scrivin joins the roster, and puts out his amazing 2007 album, "Twenty years on Ben Nevis", this haunting electronic collection should get you dusting off the ZX Spectrum, regretting selling your Star Wars figures, and dreaming of going into space.

RRR013, proves we're having a busy day in the office! The Macadamia Brothers, who are getting all sorts of praise from certain quarters, release this three track EP with Rack & Ruin. This is prior to their EP being released on Victoria's Old Life Records, grab it now, and be there from the start.

RRR012, the fourth release from today is from the "selsey bill EP" from dessktop, thinking mans ambient at its finest. Download now, play, and then wish there was an extensive back catalogue.

RRR011, the second EP from Sister Ruth. This EP is centred around a childrens nursery rhyme, however the sombre sounds may tell a different story.

RRR010, Dublin Duck Dispensary join R&R with their excellent 2007 debut. Fuzzy catchy pop music - check out their video for Rabbit in a Hat here

RRR009, Tropical Australian Stinger Research Unit, or more handily TASRU's debut EP hits R&R, and is perhaps one that many have been anticipating. Grab it now, and see what the fuss is about!

4th April 2008

Do you still find yourself in Austin, Texas tomorrow, maybe you're a casualty from SXSW, well fear not. Your ear drums should not be given a rest just yet. The excellent "These Are Words" are playing Saturday night... download "Prism" today, fall in love, go to the show. Whilst on the subject of These are Words, you might also want to check out this Youtube video of them performing, "Things I do" here

RRR008, another busy day, and Jason the Swamp becomes the first artist to find two EPs on Rack & Ruin. If you aren't already a fan, then you soon will be.... also features guest vocals on one track from R&Rs very own, Jessi Lively.

RRR007, Rack & Ruin's very own Dean Birkett (aka me), and my first exploration into sound. This was made in January 2008, just days after buying my first musical instrument. Be kind.

RRR006, the excellent "These are Words" explode onto Rack & Ruin with the amazing "Prism". If you haven't already had "Things I Do" stuck in your head, then something is wrong. Grab quick, and become a better person for it.

3rd April 2008

RRR005, the pop gem that is Tyson Brinacombe's first EP has made it on to Rack & Ruin, pour a tall glass of your favourite cold beverage, sit outside, and let this wash over you.

RRR004, Moon Runners explode on to Rack & Ruin, the "Gazepunk" pioneers, are a welcome addition, play loudly, buy a guitar, form a band.

RRR003, welcomes you to the world of Megazord. The .zip file containing his two track "Seizure at the beauty palor" EP was corrupted, and unfortunately you will have to wait a little longer to hear these two tracks. If you could sample what .zip corruption would sound like, then I'm sure Megazord would have it in one of his tracks. Experimental to the max.

2nd April 2008

RRR002, Jason the Swamp's excellent lo-fi debut album, "Things" is the newest addition to the fledgling Rack & Ruin records, grab it now and wallow in its fuzzy glory.

RRR001, Almiqui's "Mozambique via Angola", is released on Rack & Ruin, and available to download in full.

1st April 2008
